Free bus/tram passes should not be restricted to school weekdays; it is unfair to ask students to pay full adult prices on the weekends!

Local businesses should give young people a chance in the workplace, offering more apprenticeships and training.

Prizes, like free holidays, should be given to young people who make special contributions to our community (such as charity work).

I want transport to be cheaper for the young people in Trafford. Why should we be treated differently than those living in London who can travel for free?

I think parks should be made safer for young people in Trafford.

I want to open up stylish youth centres which are local to young people. People will be able to socialise with others and drinks and refreshments will be provide at reasonable costs. This will be a cheaper way to meet up with friends and have a good time.

Create more opportunities for young people by developing better parks, youth clubs, sports facilities etc.

Make young people more aware about the changes in hospitals and the NHS that will effect them.

Create better relationships between young people and their local police service making Trafford a better, nicer place.

I would like open more youth centres so there are less teenagers on the streets.

Have more crossings e.g. pelican, around areas such as schools so that everyone is safe.

Try to get schools to stay open later so pupils can use the library and fitness/sport facilities to help them keep happy and healthy.

I feel pupils will benefit if there are at least two counsellors, (one of each sex) whom pupils could talk to about private/personal matters. Some pupils have no one to talk to because they don’t want to tell their parents, friends or teachers their problems. This can make pupils depressed and confused. They could talk about schoolwork, relationships, social issues etc. However, whatever the pupils tell the counsellors has to remain confidential. Counsellors should take action that may include campaigns, being go-betweens for teachers and students or they can inform the pupil where to get more information or help.

There should be compulsory sport and exercise in school. I don’t think the traditional sports appeal to enough children. New activities that currently aren’t available to all but would appeal include Handball. This is played by both sexes, so everyone can play. It is also cheap. For those who don’t enjoy competitive sport, Yoga is an option. I did Yoga and I found it calming and de-stressing. It also made me suppler. I think these activities should take place in school hours and be free of charge so everyone will be able to participate.

I believe that the Cycling Proficiency Test should take place in Year 6 to ensure the safety of cyclists. This should be taken seriously as swimming as children are killed and injured whilst riding bicycles. There should be a minimum level that children should achieve before being allowed to cycle out on the road. Once children have achieved this level they will be given a pocket sized cycling licence card that acts like a driving licence. This reassures parents/drivers that children are cycling safely and so more children will cycle, therefore creating a more eco-friendly system of transport.

Improve relationships between young people and older of Trafford. Improve the view of young people that older people hold from the stereotypical ‘hoodie’.

Give the young people of Trafford a wider say things that will affect them i.e. government matters and EU.

Create places where teenagers can go and relax without any pressures and feel safe. Open to all and emphasised that they will look after it so more care is taken.

I will try to introduce more Home Economics studies into the local schools.

I will attempt to try and reduce 11-19 year old bus fares during both school/college time and during the weekends.

I will attempt to increase youth volunteering numbers in Trafford, help young people become more aware of volunteering opportunities, and make these opportunities easier to access.

Disabled Children have ambitions to do the range of activities as other able bodied children. Often information advertised would not in some way include the consideration of the Disabled Children; ie: for travelling to certain venues it could be that special transportation may be required! They deserve to have an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of activities. I would like to help by providing better equipment and services for the Young Disabled Children to avoid and overcome any form of barriers in achieving their ambitions!

The school meals provided by Trafford are to encourage children to maintain a well balanced diet. The main issue for most young people is that the cost of school dinners is on the increase. Some schools deliver adequate pricing as oppose to others who are quite expensive. Why should young people be deterred from eating school meals simply because they can’t afford it? Why should you pay more when you can pay less? I would like to target school meals as a goal, in capping prices to reasonable rate!

Most young people of Trafford use public transport to travel to school, leisure centres, and shopping or to see their friends etc. We all know that travelling is an important aspect in our lives, but are we happy with the amount we have to pay every day? The cost of public transport is over-priced even with the short journeys. I am campaigning to reduce the fares for young people (11-18)! We expect cheaper rates and we NEED them reduced.

Bullying is a major issue all over the UK. I would like to work with the local council to help raise the awareness of bullying and assist in the improvement of prevention measures. I believe that making more youths aware of the consequences bullying can aid in lowering the number of cases. An area in which I am particularly passionate about dealing with Special Educational Needs bullying, to allow these young people to have an un-interfered school and social life. Racial discrimination is another key aspect of bullying that needs tackling by improving racial understandings.

Public transport is another issue in which action needs to be taken. The public transport is a common complaint from young people, not only to do with the punctuality but also the high costs for users of the services. Young people regularly use public transport for getting to school as well as around the city, and therefore need the transport system to be reliable and on time. These services also tend to be quite highly priced. Therefore, I would like to try to help to lower the cost of using public transport and allow the service to be more prompt.

Education allows youths to find ways to expand on their abilities. I feel that education cannot be restricted to just schools and should an opportunity for young people to develop their talents, in areas such as sports and the performing arts. These should also be promoted as another way to learn. I would like to make more opportunities available to young people for them to widen their future choices and I would also like to help make these opportunities more public so that more youths are informed of them.

I want to make more places available in Trafford for young people to go and enjoy themselves without being accused of being anti-social.

I want to improve public transport in Trafford so that young people can use more comfortable and regular services at cheaper prices.

I want to ensure that all young people have a say in the way that their community is run.

I would like to decrease the amount of bullying of every form in Trafford so that people are happy living in Trafford.

Trafford has very good access to transport but quite high fares for this transport. I will try to make the fares for transport, i.e. buses and trams etc, lower for people under the age of eighteen during the daytime.

Trafford is quite a safe place to live but still within Trafford there are many robberies and crimes... I would like to make and keep the streets of Trafford safe by adding more CCTV cameras on streets and parks etc and having more recognised and well known police and community officers on patrol, and also to raise the awareness that they are around to help and solve problems.

Firstly I see a huge problem in society’s where young people are resorting to drugs and alcohol, to have fun, as they feel there is nothing else for them to do. I would like to put forward low priced fun schemes to keep us occupied like under 18’s nights and social events for the whole community. This will stop bored teenagers getting into trouble.

I would like to propose a system where Trafford youth actually have a voice and have a say in certain issues that relate to them. The youth should have a role to play in decision making as they see things from a different perspective. The system will encourage young people to come forward with ideas and improvements. This in turn will lead to a better understanding between adult and young people, and allow them to participate in local issues and politics in the form of community ‘Question Time’ style sessions.

Lastly there is a big problem with transport in Trafford. In recent years the fares have rocketed, which is unacceptable. It’s especially difficult for larger families with many school aged children. In other major cities such as London, travel to and from school, whilst in full time education is free. Why not Manchester? I would like to initiate a campaign to put us on a level with our capital.
